ID: 00/III/III

Creator: JHBMC (1994 -)

Extent: 5.0 Boxes

Arrangement: The collection is arranged in alphabetical order, with a series for each letter of the alphabet and a "folder" for each person.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection contains curricula vitae, press clippings, obituaries, and other documents in informational files about persons affiliated with Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Francis Scott Key Medical Center, Baltimore City Hospitals, or Bayview Asylum. These files are not comprehensive, but include articles from InsideHopkinsBayview, Bayview Online, or other publications. The content of these files is somewhat uneven in terms of quantity and quality of information. Some folders may contain extensive information about the individual, while others may only contain a mention from the JHBMC Intranet.

Biographical Note

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center has a rich history. It began in 1773 as the Baltimore Almshouse, changing its name in 1866 to Bayview Asylum. In 1925, the name changed again to Baltimore City Hospitals. In 1984, Johns Hopkins took over the failing institution and renamed it Francis Scott Key Medical Center. In 1994, in conjunction with the opening of the new acute patient tower, the name changed to its present form: Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
