Open Access Appointment System

The Student Health & Wellness Center operates an "Open Access" appointment system designed to begin each day with 60% of our appointment slots open.    Same day appointments can be scheduled beginning at 8:30 am the day you'd like to be seen.  A same day appointment allows you to choose an appointment time that works with your schedule and keeps you from experiencing the lengthy waits of our previous walk-in system.  

 

Please note:  On Saturday, we have limited hours and staff. and there reserve this time for students with illnesses or injuries.  Routine and wellness-type visits are scheduled Monday - Friday.

 

Cancellation/No Shows

Many of our services are in high demand and sought after by students. Therefore, if you cannot keep your appointment, please notify us in advance so that we can give your appointment time slot to someone else.  At the present time, we do not charge for no-shows, but please be considerate of others and take the time to cancel your appointment so someone who is sick can be seen. 

 

Lab Work Requested by an Outside Provider

We draw blood for outside physicians as a courtesy for our students.  However, for the students' safety and to make sure that results are promptly transmitted to the ordering physician, we have adopted this policy as of February 1, 2012:

Lab order slips from outside providers must be on that provider's own Quest or LabCorp slip.  The requisition must be completely filled out including:

 

• Provider's name
• Contact information
• LabCorp or Quest account number
• Relevant ICD-9 codes
• Lab tests requested

If this is not possible, you will be referred to the Calvert Outreach Laboratory (located at the Johnston Professional Bldg. at Union Memorial Hospital, 3333 N. Calvert St., Suite 121) .  There is no extra blood-drawing fee.  Students with JHU's school insurance should have their provider use Quest or Johns Hopkins Laboratories.
